RECYCLED CANS = HERB PLANTERS

Hi All,
With the nice weather we have been having this Spring, I have been clearing out some of the recycling that piled up over the Winter.
A few of the large tomato sauce and soup cans ended up in my studio for a transformation.

I started by removing the paper label and applying a thin coat of Gesso to a clean and dry can.

Once dry, I applied alcohol inks by dribbling some color then blotting it around.

I used a can opener to put 4 openings in the bottom of the can.

I preferred to have the openings on the bottom, but some of the cans have a soft edge and it is easier to put the 4 openings on the side.

Using a good bonding glue, space a dollop between each opening and secure 4 flat glass marbles for feet.

A band of gel medium or mod podge will secure lace or ribbon wrapped around the can.

Push lace or ribbon down with glue brush to make good contact.

Gather odd and ends from stash drawer and tack down with a glue gun.

Here are 3 cute little cans that were diverted from the recycling bin.

Total cost? Just the stuff that finds it way to the bottom of the drawer + creative time = free!
What do you make?

Until next time,
Deb
