VINTAGE: STROLLING THROUGH A THRIFT STORE

Hi All,
I am so glad more and more people are recycling old and unwanted items through donations to thrift stores.
Stores with purpose are my favorites, like the Hospice store near me. Quality donations are taken by volunteers, priced and displayed in a pleasing manner. Proceeds benefit programs centered around Hospice, but the added bonus is the community. Shoppers can find nice items that have been used gently. It is a wonderful circle of those no longer needing a house full of items to those that are starting out needing basic supplies and finding treasures.
When I am visiting the store, my eyes wander to the vintage items. It makes me laugh a little when I see something that I grew up with now considered "vintage", but I love the younger folks that appreciate the style and value on these items.

See the colored tags? Every 2 weeks a new color sticker will be put on incoming items; these will be full price for 2 weeks, then reduced to 50% off, and 2 weeks later to 75% off! What a deal!

I always see nice vintage dishes, the prices on these are reasonable, but I will gamble and see if they will be on sale soon!

Here is a sample of decades of footwear! Notice several pairs of pointed toes, square toes, big block heels, flats, pumps, and open toe!

Make a trip to your local thrift store, whether you are dropping off something or looking for something unique. Your donation or purchase will be helping many people. You never know, you may have fun finding the perfect treasure or it might be the volunteer job you have been looking for.

  

LET'S GO JUNKIN'

Hi All,
We all have those favorite spots to frequent on shopping days.  One of mine is a local thrift store.
I love the hunt for useful vintage.  My home is filled with items that have history. I just can't pass on a beautiful piece for a good price.  Only draw back is sometimes it cost me more to accessorize the treasure.
This lamp shade cost more than the lamp!

Oh, did I mention I try to keep my purchases under $10.00.  Well, there was this exception last week.

I love this oak bookcase!  It is five feet tall and in such wonderful shape that I know it was very loved. It may have been a piece that matched a curio secretary. Possibly from the early 1900's. It is in my dining room now, and will be filled with other treasures that I have found.

First piece on the book shelf is this Homer Laughlin Craftsman platter - a treasure for only $2.50.

Hi All,

What does ‘Keep on Truckin’ mean to you?

It’s just a way of life - pick it up, and move forward, right? 

That phrase has another meaning that is wrapped around the feeling you get when driving a vintage truck.

1956 Chevy Truck

Here’s mine – A 1955 Task force 

She's all original  with a few updates. and is ready for a new look.

This little truck is a 1955 2nd series. That means the model style was changed mid year.  Mine is a step side with a short bed. I've been driving her around and loving it.  Everyone has a story to share about their experiences with a 1955 Chevy. (Hope you share yours in the comment link) 

Plans for this Spring include; sanding, priming, painting, a new front window, bed repair, and the "little" things.

Mostly; just getting out there and driving!  After all, it's just too cool not to!
