Working art into a weekly challenge has been very fun. If you have not joined a community in the past, it is a simple process and very rewarding.
Last week Journal 52 prompt was the night sky. This is my version.

ART JOURNAL: 2 WEEKS!

Hi All,
I just realized upon finishing this weeks +Journal52 prompt, (Color Swatch), that I forgot to post last weeks project, (Found Poetry)!

So here is how I "found" poetry.

I started with an old paperback book that was damage.  Words that interested me were randomly circled then torn out to make a statement.

Once I had the thought together I made the background with gesso and stencils, added cardboard, placed my poem, stamped and painted acrylics, colored with pencils and markers.

The found poetry says:

There is no woman like She,

She had moved with the grace of a deer, with the power and abandon of a cougar,with the soaring freedom of an eagle.

Light began to flicker; the plea for release

"I am happy. let me go".

This weeks challenge was "Color Swatch".

I love color, so this was hard for me not to add every color under the sun. Honestly, these are some of the colors that I painted the walls in my house! (Check out my inspiration board on Pinterest).

    

I used pieces of scrapbook paper to extend my pages; you may have noticed this on other pages, I really don't like sharp edges.  I painted dots made from the brush handle dipped in paint, black gel pen was used for outlining, and colored pastels to fill areas.

ART JOURNAL: WHEN I GROW UP

Hi All,
I am a member of +Journal 52, on Flickr. It is a community of people working from a weekly prompt to create an art journal for each week of the year.
It is fun and challenging, but best of all - the art is posted on Flickr for all to see.
So many different views on the same topic makes this community  so interesting.

This week the prompt was: "When I Grow Up".

My "Dream" when growing up was to be successful at what I did.
I have been blessed with the chance to do just about all the things I have ever wanted to.
Yes, life can be a dream if you just believe in yourself.
Since I have been fortunate to have many careers, my art piece is a path of my journey.

ART JOURNAL: VALENTINE INSPIRED

+Journal 52 is a fun way to join a community of artists that are working from a prompt to create a weekly art journal page.
This week the Art of Love Letters is the prompt that inspired my journal page.

Valentine: There is no other... that can make my heart flutter

I placed a hand made butterfly sitting on some silk flowers, exploding from a paper heart.  

The heart was made of an old grocery bag, lined with a rose print tissue paper from a gift.  It is torn from the middle and stuffed to make it puffy.  I "stitched" the heart to the page with a black sharpie.

Journal edges are trimmed with scrap book paper on both sides.

The text is written on a painted background of pink, lavender and white, then trimmed with some fancy cut scrap book paper.

Love birds are cut outs from a +Tim Holtz idea-ology paper tablet.  They are framed in a punched frame with a number 14, some lace, flowers and butterflies.

This journal, as with most of the pieces that I have been making, use bits and pieces of items that are recycled, reused, or picked up for a few pennies.

My advice is to use what you have and put it out there.  This is a project to have fun with, learn from, and share with others.  

When finished, these journals will mark a journey that will continue to inspire; not just ourselves, but others who have the opportunity to view them!
